You may be wondering what the difference is between mindfulness and meditation. Often these words are used interchangeably. Quite simply, mindfulness is something that we can learn to do as we go about our every day lives which helps to promote feelings of calm, peace and clarity even in the midst of chaos – so that we feel more in control of our selves and our lives. Research shows that it helps us to be healthier, more relaxed, creative, sleep better and improve our relationships.
Meditation is something that is normally done sitting down with eyes closed, using mindfulness techniques. Recent research shows that through regular meditation practice the brain has the ability to change its structure and function and increase the levels of happiness which then become hardwired in the brain.
I offer one day workshops on request at venues to suit you, and also ongoing meditation/mindfulness groups in Burley in Wharfedale. I am an experienced meditator of 22 years and I have taught meditation/mindfulness for stress management since 1997. I like to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to promote learning and have an enjoyable time.
